Locations
What is a location?
A 'location' is a discrete working unit. It could be a ward, a department, a building,
a floor or a site. It's a convenient way to segment your organisation for rostering
purposes. Each rota is calculated by location, taking account of staff who have
the skills to work across different locations.
Sharing staff across locations
You can roster your staff to work in different locations at different times. This
is especially cost-effective when you can share expensive 'expert' staff between
departments or wards. When you don't need full-time expertise at every location,
sharing is a flexible option. Trainers, mentors and senior and nursing staff can
often be scheduled in this way.
Shift patterns and work roles
Each location can have its own shift patterns. Rotagen gives you the flexibility
to customise each location according to its requirements. Not only can your staff
be shared across locations but, for multi-skilled employees, their work roles and
shift patterns can also change in different locations. This flexibility within Rotagen
enables you to schedule your staff by taking account of their work pattern
preferences - so important for work-life balance and increased staff morale.
