Roles and skills
What are roles?
Roles are simple descriptions of qualifications and skills - job descriptors. Once
you have created them, they can be assigned individually to each of your staff.
A role holds information such as maximum hours to be worked in a week (helping you
to comply with Working Time Directives), whether the role attracts overtime payment
or time off in lieu (TOIL) and sociability rules such as maximum number of weekends
to be worked in a month, consecutive days off and other 'family-friendly' options.
Initially, when you allocate a role to an employee, the role contains default settings.
You can tailor these on an individual basis, to match the particular circumstances
of each employee.
Staff roles
You can allocate your staff to one or more roles, depending on the terms of their
contracts of employment. Their role(s) can be at the same location or they may have
different roles at different locations. You have the flexibility, within Rotagen,
to allocate your staff in the most cost-effective way for your organisation.
When you define your shifts and shift patterns, you can specify the skill or role
needed for the shifts and Rotagen will automatically allocate the appropriate
staff for you.
